Today I viewed the TED Talk by Greg Stone called “Saving the ocean one island at a time”. This talk appealed to me because I want to take up diving as a hobby and if there is no coral or fish all I will see is water and sand and that is not very interesting. In the talk Stone mentioned that Phoenix Islands has two major problems. Firstly, the the water levels are rising and the counter is expected to be under water because there are only two meters above the sea level. Secondly is that the Phoenix Islands have one of the best and healthy environments in the world. The Phoenix Islands are very poor so they let fishing taking place. When the license was released Phoenix Islands were over fished. So the country made up a reversed fishing license so that the fishing boats get paid to not fish in the area. I found this TED talk because the ocean is the least explored place in the world.
